The students call me “Mrs. Abril” or Mrs. Medellin-Trujillo. Born and raised in San Diego, I graduated from Grossmont-Cuyamaca College with two Associate Degrees: Communications and Humanities/Fine Arts. Since the age of seven, I have been an Instructional Associate to my mother for Sunday School, helping with plays, and working with small groups of adolescents, and middle and high school students as well. I have also really enjoyed my volunteer work, which I started at age twelve, with Severe Special Education students at my mother’s job. She works at Castle Park High School. I have worked in the field of education since 2019, and am really enjoying my work at HGCS. The students are the primary reason I love to come to work, but I also love the community that is HGCS. I am fluent in Spanish (my native language) and English, which works out perfectly because I can better communicate with the students who are not fluent in English.
