Communication Information

In order for student success, communication between parent/guardian and teacher must be constant. This year I have set a goal for myself become more effective with parent/guardian communication. I have added two new forms of communication in order to better suit the needs of the students and their family! The forms of communication that I will be using frequently are in  bold, however, all forms will be used throughout the year.  Below are the different forms of communication that will be used this school year.
  • email
  • School messenger
  • 4th grade website
  • Google Classroom
  • Seesaw
What is School Messenger?
School messenger is a wonderful program that we use here at HGCS! It allows us to send out important information and reminders to parents and guardians. The wonderful thing about school messenger is that as a teacher I can send out both an email and a phone call to parents and guardians in both English and Spanish! I began using this form of communication last year and had great success! I will continue to use it this school year for reminders and important events such as the following:
  • Field trip reminders
  • Spirit week
  • Projects
  • Parent- Teacher Conferences
  • Testing schedules
             and much more!
What is Seesaw?
Seesaw is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Students “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. It’s simple to get student work in one place and share with families, and nothing is shared without teacher approval.
What is the Google Classroom?
The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students. Google Classroom combines Google Drive for assignment creation and distribution, Google Docs, Sheets and Slides for writing, Gmail for communication, and Google Calendar for scheduling.

What about emails, phone calls and the 4th grade website?
Emails and phone calls are always more than welcomed! If you would like to email me with any question, comment, or concern, feel free to email me at check my emails at least twice a day, both before and after school. Emails may be sent for the purpose of various reminders, or student related information. If you need to call please do so either before or after school hours ( 8:30-3:30 M,T,W,TH) unless it is an emergency. You may call or text me at (619) 736-0974.  Additionally, phone calls may be done to inform parents of student behavior (both positive and negative) and to create appointments for my Friday Office hours. The fourth grade website will be used mainly for the purpose of digital copies of field trip forms, photography release forms, student and parent/guardian resources.
