• Howard Gardner Community School is a free public charter school, open to anyone wanting to enroll!
• HGCS is a “School of Choice,” no district transfer is ever needed to attend our school
• You can live anywhere in San Diego County and still make HGCS your chosen school

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Enrollment Information

A family may apply for their student to be admitted into Transitional Kindergarten (TK) for the following school years if they have their 5th birthday with the date range:

• 2023-2024 – 5th birthday between 9/2/2023 and 4/2/2024
• 2024-2025 – 5th birthday between 9/2/2024 and 6/2/2025

In the 2025 – 2026 school year students will no longer be required to turn 5 during the school year. Instead the only requirement is:

• They have their 4th birthday by 9/1/2025

Enroll your student in grades TK – 8 by bringing the following to our front office:

• Completed HGCS Enrollment application
• Original Birth certificate
• Immunization Record
• Proof of Residency
