Woof — allow me to introduce myself. I’m Thunder, Howard Gardner’s therapy dog. I’m a Siberian Husky mix, I have one blue eye and one brown eye (both work great), and yes, the bow tie is real. I came to this school as a rescue puppy. Ms. Kat, our executive director, took me in — and once the students and I met, everyone agreed I belonged here. Now I’m a permanent member of the school family, and I even wear my own school ID badge to prove it. My job is helping kids feel calm, brave, and ready to learn. Some friends start their morning with a little Thunder time to shake off a tough start. Some earn time with me by working hard on their schoolwork. And every so often I get a spa day, which I take very seriously. You’ll find my tips all through this handbook — nobody knows this place better than I do (by smell, anyway). One more thing: if you’re allergic to dogs, or big fluffy guys make you nervous, just tell the staff . I’m very patient, and we’ll figure out a plan together.
